Adidas Sold 1 Million Recycled Plastic Sneakers
According to Adidas's website, every minute one truck of plastics ends up in the ocean. The company wants to help prevent this pollution by putting these plastics to good use.
The Ultra Boost Shoes are made from a solid granular material which is blown up and turned into thousands of small energy capsules that store and release energy.
According to Business Insider, the result is an aesthetically pleasing, lightweight, ultra-comfortable sneaker that provides super high energy return for runners.
With its Parley partnership, Adidas has successfully shown that "recycled" can also mean high-quality.
In 2017 Adidas sold 1 million of these shoes, also proving that there is a large market for recycling plastics into new items.
By 2020 Adidas plans to make all of their shoes out of recycled plastics.
